GT1 STAR EXPERIMENTS WITH THE NISSAN LEAF

In celebration of last month's UK leg of the GT1 World Championship at the Silverstone race track, GT1 star, Michael Krumm took the Nissan LEAF for a spin around the Northamptonshire circuit.

The 41-year old German driver, who races for the JRM team (one of only two British teams racing in the championships) thoroughly enjoyed driving the 2011 Car of the Year around the circuit, familiarising himself with some recent track changes.

For a driver who is used to travelling around the racetrack at 160mph, Krumm was pleasantly surprised at the power and solidity of the 100% electric car.

"I think it's amazing, absolutely no noise from the engine. The connectivity of the throttle to the electric engine is fantastic, and the response is immediate," said Krumm.

With an acceleration of 0-60mph in nine seconds, Krumm really felt the power of the car and the beautiful handling made it a dream to drive.

"The Nismo LEAF RC is something I'd really like to try out. My feeling is that electric vehicles are the future, and I can see ourselves racing this car one day," said Krumm.
